I don't want to use a perm/relaxer on my hair so what are some products I can use to straighten my hair. I have really thick hair.

I have masses of thick hair. I wash my hair with a moisturizing shampoo like Garnier Fructis.

Then I apply a protective lotion like Let's Jam Heat Styles smoothing balm to protect my hair from the heat. It also keeps my hair from frizzing up with the humidity in the air. It keeps my hair straighter longer and reduces the time it takes to straighten it.

Next I blow dry my hair with a comb attachment or while brushing it.

Last, I straighten my hair with a Revlon ceramic flat iron. I part my hair in 1/2 inch sections and pull the flat iron down over the section slowly. NEVER use a metal flat iron because it will fry your hair.

When you blow dry it, TAKE YOUR TIME and portion it, and use a circle brush, I use friz eazy by john freida or that oil from Panteen, both work, use that before you blow dry, when you blow dry take your time on the hair. not so close either! then i use a flat iron to straighten it out. Also in portions. and take sloow strides, not quick one it breaks the hair! I have kinky hair too it works TRUST me.

If i were you I would use a straighten comb/hot comb/pressing comb with some grease to straighten your hair. Thats what i do with my daughters hair. She has really thick, big, hair. Right not i prefer not to put chemicals on her hair, so the straighten comb works miracles. The Chi ( the popular straighter) does nothing for her hair, it straightens it a little then draws back up within seconds.......Good luck!

P.S.- I only have to do this 2 a month....Too much heat will make the hair week.

When using either make sure you start at the root, pulling the comb/iron/dryer down and out. It gets it really straight if you can manage to twist your wrist slightly so that the comb is about 2/3 of the way covered with you hair (almost like a curler). Unfortunately it's not something you can do on a baily basis , because too much heat isn't good for you hair.

I section my hair %26amp; blow dry it straight with a paddle brush.

I use a flat iron to make it really straight and smooth.

I have very thick hair that is mid-back length and it takes me 25 minutes from start to finish to fix my hair.
