Can I chemically straighten my hair?

I have very curly hair, and I am wondering, will it work if I chemically straighten it? Please and thanks!

Can I chemically straighten my hair?

Yes! Although it is quite pricey. It can cost more than $100. GO TO A SALON. You will regret it if you do it yourself! It can take a pretty long time getting it done for the first time, too. (My first time took 7 hours!!) You can get your roots done every 6 months. My hair used to be insane! I still have to straighten it with a flat-iron though.

I would not prescribe you go for chemical straightening. Not to scare you, but I have heard of a few people who have shown hyper-allergic reactions to the chemicals and lost all their hair... it then grows back never ever the same...

I suggest you rather get a hairstyle you like, and blow out your hair regularly, or get a flat iron - just use it with heat protective product. On lazy days, just let the hair go with their own flow, wild curly do's are all the hype, girlfriend. LOL.

If you want it permanently straightened, go for lazer therapy. It's expensive, but it really works.

The first thing to consider is the integrity of your hair. What kind of products are you using? Do you color it? Do you use heat (flat irons, curling irons blow dryers) on a regular basis? The next thing to consider is how badly do you want your hair to be straight? A chemical relaxer is one of the WORST things you can do to your hair. And it will only RELAX, not change the hair follicle. You will still need to blowdry and flat iron to get it totally straight, which will also damage your hair. Depending on how curly your hair is you may be very unhappy with the results. Depending on the length of your hair, you may consider getting a good blow out once in a while or flat ironing it. With proper care it can last about a week. Getting a wet set for larger, more relaxed curls is also an option. This can also last about a week when done properly. There is no way to say for certain, without examining your hair if a chemical straightening will totally work. But like I said before, it will only relax it, not totally take out the curl.
