How do you straighten hair with a blowdryer and how long does it take?

I have thick wavy hair and usually after I get out of the shower I wait about 2 1/2 hours for it to dry and then I use a straightener (for about 10-15 minutes). Is it better to use a blowdryer?

It takes for ever like that, mines wavy too!!

Try a wet to dry straightner if you want to dry your hair from wet! I have the GHD's and their awesome!

OR

Buy those straightenin brush that look a bit like a straightner and you put the hair dryer on and go down your hair with the brush. Theres metal plates inside the inside of the brush that heath up like a straightner does!!

If you want a quick fix for right now tho just get a rounded brush and blow dry your hair downwards towards the floor, might take a bit tho! Towel dry loads b4!

It's better to let your hair air dry and then do the straightening because it causes less damage. However, if you're in a hurry, after you get out of the shower, you can wait for about fifteen minutes, and then blow dry your hair. You can also put heat protecting spray or cream in your hair to reduce damage. Blow drying time depends on the length of your hair. I have around shoulder length hair, and it takes me about six minutes or less. Then, straightening can take me from twenty minutes to forty minutes. But that's just me, and I'm pretty thorough.

So if you have the time to wait for your hair to air dry before you straighten, go for it. It's better for your hair.

sometimes i wash my hair.. puts de frizz in it.. go to bed.. and when its dry in the am.. i just spray some shine stuff and then flat iron it

To straighten with a blow dryer you need a round brush (the size depends on how long your hair is - smaller for short, bigger for long). Take sections and you wrap the hair around the brush and pull and roll while you are blow drying. You have to create tension on the hair and this will pull it straight. Don't expect to be good at this right away it takes practice. If you do that then you will probably only have to lightly go over small sections with your flat iron.

using a blow dryer will give you a head start:

towel dry your hair

with the dryer on low, dry your hair about 80% dry.

separate your hair into sections. use clips to hold hair out of your way.

using a round vented brush, start at the roots and pull the brush slowly through your hair, "chasing" it with the dryer. if you can, hold the dryer by the nozzle for better control.

continue with all the sections, one at a time, until your hair is dry.

touch up with a flat iron if needed

when you get out of the shower, towel dry your hair and tie the top part of your hair into a clip. the blowdry the bottom layer and when that's dry you take your straightener and straighten it, then you take the next layer and blow dry them and then straighten again. it doesn't take any longer coz now your hair's dry and thinned out and already hot from the hairdryer so now the straightener works faster and the results are straight hair for longer!!! try that LOREAL STUDIO's HOT STRAIGHT liquid that you put in beforehand!

depends hair texture and length... I take about an hour to blow dry...

But if I do rollers that take me 10 mins and hit the hairdryer like the salon uses (that you sit under) then I notice in 40 mins I come out and its all dry.. so I undo rolllers. and then use a curling iron to pull the hair a bit straight ...And so it take 1 hour for the whole thing this way...

Blowing it straights hair sections at a time I normally take 40 min now while it's still short shower length...Otherwise an hour when it passes to my chest.

You can reduce time when you let hair dry a bit naturally or when you have a super absorbent towel...

divide hair in sections %26amp; blowdry with round brush. I use biolage hair shine milk %26amp; redken hair glass to straighten then I finish it off with my chi flat iron. Takes me 30-45 mins to do it all. I have naturally curly hair too.

its more damaging to your hair to use a blowdryer, but you'll get your hair straighter if you blowdry it straight first, then follow up with the flat iron. curly/wavy hair gets even more curly when you let it air dry.

to blow dry it straight, towl dry your hair first so its damp, not soaking wet. try using an anti-frizz serum or straightening cream and comb it through your hair. also you may want to try a heat protecting spray as well. divide your hair into sections (normally i do mine in thirds - bottom/underneath third of my hair, middle third, and very top).

use a very large round brush (largest you can find), preferrably one with short bristles and metal around it - the metal will heat up with the blowdryer and act as a flat iron as your drying. also a flat paddle brush with metal may work too, but i dont like them as much. with the round brush it's easier to pull the hair straight and get a better grip.

blowdry your hair straight using the brush at all times and drying one section at a time until its completely dry. you'll do this by putting the brush under an even smaller section of hair, wrapping your hair around the brush, pulling it downward and tight, and moving/rolling the brush down through your hair. move the blowdryer down your hair with the brush. the more time you run the brush through your hair on each section, the straighter it will get. be sure to point the blowdryer downward at all times. this will minimize frizz and give you a sleeker look.

after each section is dry, follow up with the flat iron on that section if you still need to touch up some spots. then continue to the next section.
