Has anyone permanently straightened their hair?

I have somewhat curly hair and I hate it...its not curly enough to be curly and its just annoying me. I want to permanently straighten my hair but I have heard that this can totally damage your hair and sometimes it can start falling off. Has anyone done this and what kinds of havok did it do to your hair? Does anyone have any suggestions?

Don't do it. Your hair will get so damaged. I had straight hair and i got a perm because i wanted it curly, and now my curls are mostly grown out and it looks terrible. I have to straighten my hair before going anywhere and now my hair is so damaged. Just be thankful for the hair you have and keep it like that.

yes i have ... i used relaxers all through middle and high school ... when i went to college a lot of the black girls were wearing their hair natural ... so i went natural ... and i love it ... i took care of my hair so i didnt ruin ... my hair was long and it was healthy ... i didnt ruin it ... just came to peace with my 'nappy' and natural hair!

you have to take care of and have someone put it in your hair who knows what they are doing ... ive done my owns at times the thiner for finer your hair texture is ... the gentler the relaxer should be .. and the lesser amount of time you should leave it on .... if you have fine hair start with a 'kiddie' relaxer ... and leave it on for the fewest possible minutes ..

Use perm solution, and instead of wrapping your hair in curlers, comb your hair straight for the whole 15 minutes, making sure you comb all of your hair evenly, and constantly. Then rinse and apply the neutralizer and comb straight for another 10 minutes. The perm solution works by breaking the bonds inside the hair so it take the shape of the roller, or of a straight comb, and the neutralizer locks those bonds back together. Technically you can make your hair take any shape you want. This is a fast easy and CHEAP way to get straight hair, and it doesn't wreck your hair anymore than a regular perm does, and it'll stay straight until it grows out. About 10 bucks for 3 months.

I have, and it cost me 70 US, i did it because I was going to the beach "everybody knows that straightened hair in the water gets curly" my hair got all dried up and it was very nasty, not even the best shampoo's can help u out.

I recommend using straightener commercial products such as shampoo, conditioner and creams, and for the problem where humidity attacks I use almond oil in my hair (small quantity but enough for all the hair) then I blow dry, then iron my hair and that leaves the hair pretty smooth soft and maleable, I've also noticed that the almond oil protected my hair from the heat. use an ion, ceramic good quality hair iron though, hope it helps

Permanently straightening your hair is a very big commitment. It requires a maintenance like no other. To have healthy looking hair, only the best shampoo and conditioning is possible. Monthly visits to the hair salon, and hours spent on the hair on a weekly basis is required. If you are not up to dedicating the time and money required to maintain your permanently straightened hair, Dont do it. It will look good at first, but any negligance on your part will not turn out well in the end.

I had the Japanese Thermal Reconditioning Hair Straightening procedure done, which actually seals proteins into your hair and makes it very straight, shiny, without frizz, and HEALTHY!

It is permanent, but only til your hair grows back out. So depending on how fast your hair grows and how straight your roots are, you may need to have the roots touched up 6 months to 2 years later. Ive had it done. Its VERY expensive, my hair was shoulder lengthed and I had to pay $680 for it, not including the $100 i had to pay in special shampoo and conditioner. The lady who did it also missed a crucial step, so it wasnt even totally straight.

HOWEVER GOOD NEWS! i had it done somehwhere else for only $240 a while later, and 7 months later my hair is still straight as a pin. Hopefully I've helped!
