How do i straighten my hair from the root?

When I was a kid I always had a comb over and now my hair has naturally turned to the side and no matter what I do it wont go straight, I was wondering if there wore any products or any way I could straighten my hair so that I could spike it straight up instead of having it turned to one side.

straighten it in layers..

like clip parts of it up until its completely straight.

then for the tops parts, just try to get the flat iron as close as possible.. try buying a thin flat iron.

Try a strong pommade wax or hair glue. BedHead makes a great hair glue for short hair. Failing that you are just going to have to blowdry it on low with a diffuser everytime you wash it and while you are blowdrying comb the hair in the opposite direction it wants to go in. I had to do this to retrain my part as well. It takes about 2-3 weeks depending how often you wash your hair. If you really want immediate results you might try buzzing it all off and letting it regrow while combing it in the direction you want it to grow. That's pretty extreme though...
