It seems to be different for me, my hair isn't long so it's harder. I tried today and it turned out like crap.
My hair is semi curly, kind of medium long, and thick.
Apparently this guy has curly hair like me and he straightens his hair:

How does he get it to be so completely straight? Mine feels thick and dry even after I straighten it.
And also, should I dry my hair completely before I straighten it? I usually dry it completely but then my hair feels zapped!
I'm a guy, how do I straighten my hair using a straightner? *PICS inside*?
he straightens it, you could always get a perm, though.

If you straighten your hair, you need to make sure you use conditioner, and have a good shampoo, and conditioner. If not, when you straighten your hair, it will be dry, staticky, and frizzy.
Use a heat protectant as well. this replenishes vitamins in your hair and protects your hair against the heat of the straightener, which will prevent the " zapped " feeling.
The third thing you need is a good hair straightener, made for short hair. Sedu makes a great one. It's a 1" plate, so it would be easier to get to your hair, since your hair is medium long. It also has ionic tormaline plates, which don't dammage your hair. They're expensive, but worth it.
Thats my best bet to what he does, but if you want hair like him, do that =]
Good Luck

you need a protecter for your hair, straightening isn't to good on it, and I would also use a leave in conditioner and a regular one also. If you straighten your hair put the comb in front of the flat iron to get the straightest hair possible. Make sure you dry your hair all the way.

CORIOLISS
Whatever it takes, find that straightener. I found mine in the mall and lots of malls carry them. It is amazing. I watched people and had many people tell me they have naturally curly hair and this makes it so straight. Fast too! So I bought it for myself and it's amazing! It tends to be expensive, mine was $200, but I talked them down to $100. You can do that at those kinds of places. Booths in the middle of the mall. Check to see if your mall has it. Or online. I'm telling you, this is amazing and it doesn't damage your hair. You can even do it while your hair is wet. My husband loves how my hair looks when I use this straightener and it works so fast. Basically, you get what you pay for. I bought my mother-in-law a cheap one and it didn't work well.

You should dry it completely, otherwise you'll burn your hair.
Try using a really thin straightener first of all, it's easier for shorter hair, but at the end of the day anything works.
You could try putting an antifrizz product in your hair before you straighten so it calms your hair down and it won't look as zapped.
Straightening is all about practice, technique and getting used to your hair. Start with the bottom layers first. The more sections you do, the straighter it will turn out. Grab a tiny section and hold it down for a while and very slowly drag across, but not until it starts sizzling, cuz then you know you're burning it.
Go over the same piece until it's as straight as you like it and then use that same technique for the rest of your hair.
Remember to do thin pieces at a time.
P.S guys with curly hair are cute :P
