I have very wavy, thick, wiry hair, and my straighteners are rubbish, though i've ordered some GHDs, but im not sure if they will be good enough for my hair.

I'm not sure which GHD's you have ordered but they do sell a thicker plate straightener which is used on Afro hair and might be better for your hair type than the usual ones. The best thing to do is use an anti frizz shampoo and conditioner (such as Frizz-Eaze or Lee Stafford poker straight range) and then blow dry your hair straight first using a cylinder shaped brush, concentrating on small sections of hair at a time. Then just run through your straighteners afterwards. Don't forget to use a heat protecting spray to minimise damage and then end with a frizz fighting serum like Frizz Ease - they do different types depending on your hair.

if you have very thick hair and its wavy your gonna need more than just hair balm and shampoo.. you need a flat iron or at least a blow dryer with a comb on it

use a good heat protective spray always and blowdry your hair as straight as possible then use the ghds alls deep condition your hair 1-2 times a week and try to give your hair a break from the styling every now and then. good luck everyone i know with ghds loves them so you should be pleased

I have very curly hair and use john freeda straighting shampoo and conditioner followed by hair serum, john freeda straighting products are the best i have ever used. but if your straightners dont go above 220 degrees get some that do other wise you will just end up with one big frizz ball.
