it may just be that your staightners are getting old, try asking your friends what straightners they recomend, but if you wish to keep the ones you have, try holding small sections of hair at a 90 degree angle to your head and slowly moving the straightner along, do this 2 or 3 times on each small section.

hope this helps!

different hair types take different amounts of time

get the same straightener as you friends.

I've chemically straightened my hair three times! It lasts about a year, but even after it wears away, your hair remains pretty straight. I had bushy, untame hair before the process, and now it's like I've always been straight-haired!

The Los Angeles area has A LOT of places you can get your hair done this way. It's called Japanese hair straightening, or "magic straight," and Koreatown is your best bet. But the prices are wayyy high over there, around $200-$300! I got mine done in Lakewood, CA for about $150. Be sure to ask how much it is before getting it done, because that's not cheap!

Of course, the outcome is well worth it. And if you take good care of your hair, it will last long.

Good luck!

Now it depends on what kind of hair that you have first of all.

Mine is pretty wavy after I take a shower but it only takes me about 20-25 minutes to straighten my hair. I have a Revlon 1" straighner.

It really helps me to do sections, I put my hair into a half pony tail thing with some up and some down.

More up then down, and I straighten that then bring more hair down, ect.

My friend has a chi straightner and I can straighten my hair in 10 minutes and it will STAY like that all day.

With mine, it takes longer and it doesnt stay straight.

I would recoment buying a new one.

If you think about it usually the straightners for 25 bucks go out in 6 months so buying 4 straighners in 2 years would equal 1 chi straighner with a warranty.

Its all up to you though.

Good luck

Firstly, you need to ensure that your hair is blow-dried perfectly straight using a flat brush [either a paddle or Denman]. It will make straightening quicker and easier.

Use a quality heat-defense spray too.

Afterwards, Wella gloss spray will give you a mirror shine.

1- Aerosol hairspray BEFORE you straighten (flat iron) it (after you hair is dry).

2- Use the "fine toothed comb" attachment while straightening.

3- If yours doesn't have an attachment, then use a fine toothed comb on the underside of the stroke (do you see what I am saying with this?).

Using the aerosol hairspray makes the biggest difference imo, and it doesn't leave your hair stiff at all, as you are going to comb it out before, during and after straightening.

Just give it a shot .. it really does work great!!

It could be the thickness of your hair. I have very thick hair so I have to section my hair to effectively straighten my hair. It takes me a lot longer than most people. The texture of your hair might be the difference too. Curly hair will take longer than straight hair. Also, ask the them which straightener they are using. You might try using a friends to see if it works better.

Start with clean, dry hair. Heat iron while you section hair. Use clips to keep sections apart. Start at the scalp and slowly go down your hair but make sure you steadily move down your hair otherwise you will get dents. Do small sections at a time. Since my hair is only wavy, I don't apply any products except biosilk afterwards for the flyaways. Go to the drug store and purchase your favorite brands straightening products. I like mouse but they have gels as well. Just follow the instruction on the packaging.
