What's the best way to straighten your hair?

I just bought a straighten/curling iron from Walmart. I have curly/frizzy hair. Everytime i use it the top of my hair is perfectly straight and the layers under are all curly. I try overlapping but it doesnt straighten very well. also the ends are never straight!! EVER!! Help plz!!

ok. first of all, if you are serious about getting it to look nice invest in Redken "smooth down" shampoo and conditioner and a product called heat glide that is used before and after it is dry. these products will help smooth out the hair because your type of hair lacks moisture which you need to replenish.secondly invest in a flat iron recommended from a stylist. The ones at wal mart are cheaply made and will only end up frying your hair.{Sally's beauty supply} has quality inexpensive ones also.Start at the nape of your neck working in sections, using a clip to keep the rest of your hair out of the way and work your way up. patience, no one ever said beauty was easy!

well underneath you straighten it. for the ends you use defrizzer it works wonders i should know.

Three things, use a serum for frizzy hair, ask your stylist if he has a product made for hot iron use, and pull up the top hair to get to the bottom hair and use smaller sections.

Make sure you use a good straightening solution or balm that u can buy from walmart or ur local supermarket. Dont straighten ur hair all in one go. do it in sections. EX. put ur hair half up and straighten the underneath first then do the top. The only thing is if u hair is very thick and curly u may need a better straightening iron. Hope all goes well

use Fructise (don't know spelling) moose stuff. then you blow dry it with your head turned over so your hair falls down in front of you and all you see is he outer layer of hair. put the dryer on high/hot to work best.

Your straightener needs to be ceramic. then you wont have frizzy hair. also use leave in conditioners.

What's the best way to straighten your hair?

get a flat iron called a chi it does wonders

What's the best way to straighten your hair?

well...i would try sectioning off your hair, to be certain that you are getting to all of it. try a smothing spray such as sleek look flat iron spray by matrix, and comb the section, allowing the flat iron to follow.

if the iron doesnt seem to be working...i hate to say it...but its the brand! try going to a beauty supply store and picking up a cermaic iron with heat control. the ceramic is wonderful...it maintains hair moisture and shine.

my personal favorite iron is "chi" but if that is beyond your budget, try a wigo or hot tools iron...

good luck!!!

i have the same hair, curly frizzy. i have a really crappy straightener and i have the same prob with the layers. 1st comb through all my hair, and lin it up in 3 layers, like my hair so i do one layer at a time. i straighten the hair first then go over with a curling iron. it sounds funny i know, but it works. also spray each layer right away when its done.

i've come to find that a flat iron with ceramic plates. they heat up the best. i bought mine at target and it's super thin so you can get to the very root of your hair. try to blow dry your hair straight first then try straightening it in sections only about an inch to 1 1/2 inches thick. i bought my straightener from Target and it has a heat temp. but it's always on 25 and it also has a like "turbo" thingy which gives it even more heat....it also heats up and cools off very quickly here a link to a pick of it: http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/ref... the only diff. is that mines is ConAir and it only cost me $16.

Split your hair into layers. Take a clip and clip the top of layer of your hair first. Then straighten the underneath part. Take out the clip and then create another layer to straighten. This way should mean that all of your hair is straightened. Also it depends on what kind of straightener you use and how much hair you have. If ou have very little hair it should be easy but having a lot of hair is much harder. Hopefully these tips help you!

All you need is a round brush, a blow dryer, some hair products and about 30 minutes.

Steps:

1. Towel-dry your just-washed hair.

2. Apply a heat protectant to your hair, paying special attention to the ends.

3. Place a quarter-size dollop of straightening balm in your palm. Rub your palms together to distribute the product in your hands, then massage it evenly throughout your hair.

4. Comb through your hair with your fingers while gently drying it on a low setting. This removes excess water.

5. Pull your hair into three sections, two at the sides and one at the back. Clip the two sides up.

6. Select a small portion of the hair from the unclipped section.

7. Using a thick, round brush and beginning at the roots, gently pull the brush through the hair to the ends while you blow-dry it. Pull the hair away from your head, stretching and straightening it as you go.

8. First pull the brush through the underside of your hair so that you expose it directly to the heat of the dryer. Once that area is mostly dry, switch to the top of the hair.

9. Keep the tension consistent and evenly distribute heat over the section of hair you're working on. This ensures uniform hair texture and prevents overdrying of certain areas.

10. Continue with the other sections of damp hair.

Tips:

Always point the dryer down as you are blow-drying the hair; blowing hair upward can cause frizzies.

Tame flyaway hair with an antifrizz serum or pomade. Place a few drops in your hand, rub gently to distribute it, then apply it your hair according to the product instructions.

Wash your hair and use a conditioner. Leave a little in, it will make your hair smoother! Wring out your hair using a towel until it is no longer dripping. Starting at the top of your head, section your hair into sections. Using a brush, or comb, blow dry. I would also recommend investing in a hair straightener. A straightener made of ceramic is better for your hair.

Using a shampoo and conditioner for curly hair is one of the best things to start with. Try sleek sh. and cond. Then use power straight by straight sexy hair before you blow dry. Even if you let it air dry this is the best product to use. Also, you should sections off the hair no wider than the size of the iron it's self..

Use a straightening cream before you dry your hair. I would also suggest blow drying it with a flat brush to get it sort of straight before you use the hair iron. Then seperate your hair into a few sections. Do the underneath part of your hair a little at a time to make sure it really gets straight. This works for me and I have really thick curly hair. Also- it depends on the iron. It's really worth it to get a good ceramic iron-anything else really doesn't work on curly hair.
