So, this is my dilemma, my hair doesn't Straighten or Curl and i really wish it would do one or the other! When i just blow dry it... well it ends up looking horrible, frizzy, out of place! i am tired of putting it up in a pony tail but am willing to take the time to Straighten it EVERYDAY if i must but is there a better solution?! I want somthing pretty, simple, and comfortable!! is that possible?! I just want my hair to look decent!
Want to Straighten my hair but... help!!?
As I got older, my nice, straight hair turned into limp, lifeless waves. Now, I HATED my waves. It's in between straight and curly. It's like I can't make up my mind! If I use a diffuser and a bunch of hair product, I would have nice curls, but I like the straight look more, anyways. It's also easier (for me, at least).
Last year, my best friend whose hair is exactly like mine started straightening her hair. I loved the way it looked and borrowed her straightening iron. I also loved the way it looked on me. I bought a cheap one from Walmart that was only 25 bucks, which worked till spring (I got it mid-fall). Over the summer I got a new one, Solia. Then, I wasn't using any hair protectants or deep conditioners, so I had a ton of split ends.
This year, I found this great deep conditioning process, but in the end, I realized all I needed was to use Neutrogena Triple Moisture Hair Mask once a week, and Neutrogena Triple Moisture Daily Deep Conditioner every other day. I also use Nexxus Heat Protexx Spray to keep my hair safe from the heat.
My daily routine:
I wash my hair at night. Wake up in the morning and straighten it. (If you do this, you will want to wash and straighten every day seeing as your hair gets flat and oily if you don't.)
An alternate routine I sometimes do if I shower in the morning that also gives me great volume (I have extremely thick hair to begin with, so I don't really need more volume, but I love big hair anyways) is to wash your hair. Let your hair air dry until it's about 75-85% dry. Then, put volumizing mousse in it and blow dry till completely dry. Then, use protecting spray and straighten hair as usual. With this process, you can go 2-3 days without having to wash or straighten your hair.
Additional notes:
When I say wash, I mean get your hair wet at all.
You may need to straighten your hair a little bit on the second day, because when you're asleep, your hair might curl a little at the ends.

Try Frizz-Ease Hair Serum i really like it. You put a little bit in your hand (not to much) rub it in and then blow dry (to avoid frizz use a diffuser on your dryer). Get a good ceramic flat iron to straighten your hair after you've tamed the frizz.

In addition to the products listed by others, I've found that regular hair cuts at least every other month, helps me straighten my hair a whole lot easier...

Hi. A good hair straightener cannot be underestimated! My hair is naturally curly/wavy and after a few years of straightening it seems to have been trained a little bit. If you need some extra help I reccommend showering at night and pulling your hair into a tight ponytail while it is still wet then putting a stocking over your head and sleeping in it. Your hair will be a little more manageable in the morning and you can straighten it as usual. I don't know what I did pre-straightener, but I promise you will never look back!

Well there are shampoos that help for making your hair straighter like herbal essense shampoo. You can invest in buying a expensive straightener and it will work very well.

I have naturally very curly hair and my hair dresser said there is a new product to chemically straighten my hair. He said it would last about 6mths. I trust him and I have been going to him for years. I am debating it. My hair holds a good curl so I don't know if I want to be straight all the time but this sounds like a great thing for you. Good luck!

well, if your hair is fairly thick, this is a way you can get shiny, gorgeous waves:
P.S. This needs to be done at about 7 or 8 pm
1) After bathing, apply shine serum and gel to your hair. Both can be purchased at drugstores, try to get the shine serum you can apply to dry hair aswell.
2) Get your mom or a friend to french braid it. 1 braid is best, as with 2 your hair will look funny, trust me. Plus it will fall into place
In the morning when it's dry, take it out, BUT don't brush it, and if it's slightly frizzy, apply a small amount of serum to smooth it out, only if it can be applied to dry hair, otherwise it will look greasy. Use a very small amount for this!
Try to get maximum hold gel, if your hair doesnt hold well. Only use a small amount(loony sized, or 1 in diameter drop.)
The shine serum also lasts a long time, i've had mine for over a year now. Use a dime size amount, or one 1/2 in diameter
Not even damaging to your hair!
It would loon alot like this: http://www.beautyriot.com/stuff/images/a...

I used to have the same problem, curly - as in gross curls with so much frizz, and I always used to put my hair in a ponytail because of that. It would be impossible to continue with my hair looking like that because of my job now. Or I would take an hour to straighten it which I definitely dont have time for anymore, or I'd go swimming and its ruined or go to the bar after a night of dancing, and its gross and curly all over again..
I highly recommend Japanese Hair Straightening. 5 hours at the stylist, dont get it wet for 72 hours and you are good for 6-9 months. Honestly the best purchase I will continue to ever make. You dont even have to blow dry it if you are in a hurry, it looks sleek and super straight. But check with your stylist, some of them have no training and they can charge you from $400-$4000 to do it. This is huge I stress really researching your stylist, ask to see their portfolio, if Japanese Hair Straightening is their niche, most will have one. Some stylists only get a one hour video training. Go for the consultation.
My guy is straight from Asia and works on Caucasian hair and this is his specialty, and charges $370 with cut for the first visit and $200 with cut every other visit (I get it done every 6 months - but I could get away with every 9 months if you had to)

I think your problem is basically that you have a bad straightener. And if youre using a blowdryer to straighten your hair, it wont do anything. I tried straightening my hair with a blowdryer before and all it did was make it poofy and frizzy. The best straightener I have ever used is the Sedu:

If you dont have a straightener, then use a curling iron to straighten your hair. Instead of curling the metal part around your hair, bring hte curling iron straight down. It doesnt work better than a straightener but its the next best thing i could find in my home.
