one of my friends told me cause i dyed my hair yesterday that i have to wait atleast 1 week before i can straighten it and put straightning products in my hair.

is my friend right that u have to wait one week before you can do that.i dyed my hair myself.

as long as you use some sort of a product on your hair before you flat iron your hair it should be fine, just remember to use some sort of a heat protectant or a light hair spray before you run your flat iron over your hair!

I have never heard this rule before, my friend dyes her hair herself all the time and straightens it on the same day and her hair looks fabulous!!

I'd go right ahead and straighten it.

But my friend dyed her hair darker, so maybe if you bleached it then i'd be careful and maybe wait, just to be safe, though i still don't see why you shouldn't.

If you do decide to play it safe, maybe blowdry it straight instead of using irons?

It depends on what type of dye you use...if it's permanent, you should wait...if it's just a rinse I believe you can do it at the same time. If you're not sure, just contact a local beauty supply store (like Sally's) or a local hair stylist and just ask as a general question...also some hair products have a hotline on the back of the box that you can call. I am a licensed Cosmetologist/Instructor. And since you have already colored your hair, you need to wait at least a week. However, no matter how long you wait, the straightening is going to fade your color.

Whenever you want to have both, you should always do the perm or straightening first as it usually wrecks havoc with color.

Also, it just depends on what you colored your hair with. If you used something from the store it's a good possibility that it was a "metallic dye" and that could also influence the results of your straightening chemical. Also, if you lightened your hair, even a shade lighter, this could cause damage to your hair, even make it break of fall out. So be careful you could have a real mess on your hands.

Sometimes, you get what you pay for, and I would suggest to have professional do it so that they can assess the condition of your hair before you put more chemicals on it.

the reason ur friend said that is cuz u already put chemicals on by dying the hair now u want to add more chemicals to style then add heat that already damages hair so what she probably meant is let ur hair breath a little before u do all this to cause damage to ur hair and i would suggest this too wait a few days then do that im sure u dont want ur hair to be damaged its only a few days not worth the risk
