No matter what type of hair you have, you can style it into the look you desire. If straight hair is the style you have in mind, then this article will tell you what to look for in a flat iron that makes it possible to straighten any type of hair with the least amount of time, effort and expense.

The bill from a stylist can be astronomical. Buying your own flat iron and straightening hair at home is definitely less expensive and more convenient than regular visits to a beauty salon. Getting your hair straighten will be a lot easier if you use the right flat iron.

If your hair is short, then you should use a flat iron that is one inch wide. On the other hand, if your hair is long, then you should use a flat iron that is one and one half inches wide.

Although the width of a hair straightener is important, that's not what makes the straightening of any hair type possible. For a flat iron to make hair straightening a breeze, it should allow you to adjust the temperature or heat settings of the plates. If a flat iron doesn't get hot enough, you may have trouble straightening your hair.

Many flat irons have dials that let you control how hot the plates become. You can choose from various temperature levels. Here is a rough guide for helping you decide what temperature to set your flat iron based on your hair type.

If your hair is fragile, fine, bleached or damage, set your flat iron temperature at the lowest settings.

If your hair is normal, set your flat iron temperature in the middle range.

If your hair is thick or coarse but healthy, set your flat iron temperature to the highest settings.

Keep in mind these are general guidelines. A little practice and experimentation will help you get a feel for what is exactly right for your own hair.

To recap, almost any hair type can be straighten with ease if a flat iron allows you to control how hot its plates get. The trick is to find the right flat iron among the many brands available that will do the job safely and without damage to your hair. So before you run down to any beauty supply store and grab any flat iron off the rack you might want to read part 2 of this article, which reviews flat irons that can straighten any type of hair.

I wouldn't advise it at all! If it was too hot it would melt for def! xx

This is not true! Bleached hair needs protection. So make sure you use the correct shampoo and conditioner specifically for bleached hair. Follow this with a straightening cream which will protect the hair. Then blow dry. Then seperate the hair and straighten in sections using a straightening spray on each section.

just read your question and thought that you should know, hair wont melt, but if you have very bleached blonde hair like mine you are damaging it further if you straighten it. bleaching your hair makes it substantially weaker and straightening it will cause it to break more. my best advice is to use good shampoos and conditioners(i use catwalk tigi from the salon-its expensive but does wonders to your bleached hair) and dont straighten it everyday. a great way to get out of straightening your hair is to plait it and have it wavy or put it in a bun and have cute grips or a nice alice band to make it look nice.

Yes, just use a protector, there are loads of them on the market. Dont keep the straighteners on your hair for too long and follow a comb with your straighteners. Also buy good straighteners.
