Speaking out of experience, there is no such thing as a "healthy" way to straighten hair and those chemical methods REALLY f*** up your hair completly, so DON'T DO IT. Alot of people I know, including me, did that %26amp; our hair kept falling %26amp; it only fixed the frizziness And we STILL needed to straighten it out with a blowdryer to get the look we wanted, so don't expect to just do it %26amp; ur hair would magically be silky soft.

Though, you can apply hair masks that help keep your hair naturally soft %26amp; about the flat iron, either give your hair an oil treatment weekly to balance out the damage, Or you can switch to a blowdryer %26amp; use a heat protection spray.

Depending on how curly your hair is you can blow dry it straight without having to use a straight iron. Mine is very thich and curly so I have to blowdry and use an iron but some people are able to straighten it with just a good straightening product and blowdry it straight with a round brush doing sections at a time. I use the BedHead straightening line and it works pretty well.

well blow drying it is not as bad but still damages your hair if your hair is curly then scrunch it

Here is what I do:

1. I use a deep conditioning treatment once or twice a week.

2. I usually let my hair air dry so that I don't damage it more with the blow dryer.

3. I apply Garnier Fructis Leave-In Conditioning Cream to my hair right before I straighten it. It really protects my hair from damage and I have very few split ends because I do this.

4. You can also apply a hair serum to the ends of your hair before you straighten it. The heat from the flat iron seals the serum into your hair and keeps it moisturized, protecting it from damage and split ends.

You can prepare your hair before you straighten it. They make some serums and special stuff that you can put in your hair before hand so when you straighten your hair it doesn't damage it. In all though everything you do to your hair will damage it. Brushing it, Dying it, Washing it, Blow drying.....So as long as you don't staighten it every day you should be okay. Hope this helps. If your still skeptical of flat ironing it then buy a round hair brush and while your blow drying your hair you can smooth it out with the brush. Takes longer but as well it works.

Blow drying is way better then a flat iron . go buy some Bio silk serum and then wet your hair brush the bio silk through it . then pull your hair up . Take sections and blow dry it with a round brush . When doing this just add a tiny bit of bio silk to each section you blow dry . I would recommend you leaving your hair straight for 3 days then washing it . Only do this 2 a month if you don't want your hair ruined .

Use a pomade before straightening your hair, it will protect it and make it shine

Hair can be straightened using a mild perm solution.

Go to a salon and ask about having it "relaxed". Basically, they use a VERY mild perm, and comb through to pull the hair straight (Voice of Experience: NO ROLLERS, unless they are about the size of small juice cans!). Don't try to straighten the ends, just the middle. The ends will still need SOME bounce for your hair to look decent.

It should not be staying in the hair for 20 minutes either. Just 10 minutes or so. All this will help you to later be able to blow dry it straight alot easier.

If you are brave, you can try this at home. But I can't stress enough... look for a very mild solution, and don't let it stay on very long. Get the neutralizing stuff ready before you apply the perm itself, then you can work fast.

If you don't want it permanently straightened, then you'll need to have someone teach you how to blow dry it. Be aware that humidity will curl and frizz it right back up again, and not usually in an attractive manner either.

I use a CHI and straighten my hair almost everyother day. I always put about a dime size of there CHI silk infusion stuff, it prevents my hair from frying. There's all kinds of other products out there put I've found this one works the best. It's pretty expensive for what it is but I got the medium size one and its lasted me almost 3 years.
